Good dental care is crucial for maintaining good health in horses. For instance, horses with poor and unkempt teeth can become susceptible to colic. In addition, they may become more prone to infections and their eating habits can be affected.
An imbalanced microflora in the mouth produces an unpleasant smell and bad breath. This can be an early sign of gum inflammation, but may also indicate a more serious health condition.
The build-up of plaque and tartar in the gums, teeth and tooth sockets is a leading cause of dental problems in horses. Dental plaque promotes the growth of harmful bacteria and can lead to periodontal disease. It also causes red, inflamed gums that bleed easily and can reduce appetite. When dental plaque reacts with calcium in the saliva it creates tartar. Tartar presents as a yellow-brown layer of discolouration on the teeth. It increases inflammation beneath the gums until the teeth loosen. Plaque must be removed on a daily basis to prevent tartar formation.
Instructions
Shake before use. For best results: Spray LUCAA+ Probiotic Horse Dental Care lightly into the mouth and teeth once every two to three days and allow the probiotics to do their work. Check the teeth regularly for any signs of hooks. Hooks are razor-sharp points caused by uneven wear by chewing, that can cause wounds and lead to painful inflammation.
